Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) examines the whole of a human being including body, mind and emotions. Over the centuries TCM has developed a detailed understanding of disease such that many of the aches, pains and other discomforts that we attribute to everyday fife are actually indicators of a deeper underlying health problem. TCM views disease as the result of an imbalance or blockage in the body's natural energy flow. The basis of TCM is to build the body's own immune system so that disease cannot penetrate.

TCM specialises in the following therapies:

  • Acupuncture: A system of healing that focuses on improving the overall well being of the patient. Health problems are treated by the insertion of fine needles into the body at specific points. Originating in China, these points have been mapped out over two thousand years and have more recently been confirmed through electromagnetic research.

Traditional acupuncture is based on ancient Chinese theories of the flow of Qi (energy), also referred to as Chi and Xue (blood) through distinct pathways or meridians that cover the body. Acupuncture, that is inserting special needles into acupoints, stimulates and enhances the free flow of Qi, therefore regulating the harmonious energetic balance of the body. This consequently relieves pain and restores health.

  • Moxabustion and Heat Therapies: Moxabustion is a TCM therapy in which a Chinese herb (mugwort) is used to heat specific points on the body. This therapy works in conjunction with acupuncture and acupressure and helps to invigorate the body's Qi It is especially helpful for persons with a chronic sensitivity to cold. Other heat therapies can also be used such as hot packs and warming/cooling
  • Chinese Herbology: Chinese herbal formulas am safe, powerful medicines that can address many of today's ailments. The formulas are individually prescribed for the patient's unique constitution and ailment. They use only natural, non-synthetic medicinal plants, animals and minerals which have been studied by the Chinese for thousands of years
  • Jin Shin Jyutsu: An Shin Jyutsu is a gentle ancient art, practiced by placing fingertips (over clothing) on designated safety energy locks, to harmonize and room energy
