Some commonly asked questions from our patients are “What are the differences between various injectables doctors use?” and “What differentiates use of Btx, Dy, Aq, Rest, Perl, and Esthelis?”
Before discussing the differences let the discuss similarities of all these anti-ageing products that can be injected into our skin.
The procedure can be performed in 10-20 minutes with results that last from three to eight months or even longer. The price you pay in Melbourne laser clinic is considerably lower then the cost of a traditional face-lift or any other cosmetic surgery.
Now for the differences, Aq, Rest, Perl, Juv, Esthelis are all dermal fillers, and have several uses. They fill wrinkles, lines (eg nasalabial folds) and scars, plump up lips, fill out “hallows” under the eyes or accentuate cheekbones.
- Aq is a permanent type of dermal filler and is only suitable for some limited work eg. Filling out a line around the mouth area, smokers lines etc.
- Rest, Perl, Juv and Esthelis provide a shorter term solution, lasting for 4 to 8 months. From personal experience Esthelis feels the softest and lasts the longest.
- Btx, Dy and Vistabel all contain so called ”toxin”. This protein prevents the release of signals between the nerves and muscles. This relaxes the muscles, reducing the dynamic/mimic wrinkles. Dy and Vistabel are not considered as good a quality as Btx.
Once again, because every person’s face is so unique, a consultation is must if you want the full benefits out of your BTX or Facial lines filler.

Hi,
Do you know any doctors who perform Aquamid in Melbourne? Is the product safe because i ‘ve heard they may incur some complications in the future as infection.
Look forward to your reply.
Thank you.
Hi Gemma,
Aquamid is a type of anti-wrinkle injection classified as permanent filler which never really gets broken down by your body. It consists of 2.5% polyacrylamide hydro gel which is a stable, non-toxic and biologically inactive component. The transparent gel is odorless and pH neutral and since it’s insoluble it becomes part of your soft tissue. It is safe, very stable and does not move from the injected site.
The cost of treatment is $1200 and most people like to have it retouched after years of wear as your facial contours change as you age. Just like with any other injectable treatment a little bit of bruising is possible. Because it is sterile and is administered by a medical professional in a sterile, controlled environment the rate of infection is just as low as with any other anti wrinkle injectable treatment.
One thing you need to make sure of is that you are happy with the fullness of the injected site. It is necessary for you to go through a non-permanent filler first to ensure your complete satisfaction as once Aquamed s administered it’s there to stay, so to speak.
You also need to know that when you move onto a permanent filler you cannot go back to a temporary one.
Aquamed can be administered at our clinic in Chadstone. The procedure is very quick and there is no down time. Just drop us a line to info@chadstone-wellness.com.au if you’d like to book yourself in for a complimentary consultation and/or treatment.
I hope this helps.
